The  painter Paul Klee once said that drawing is simply 'taking a line for a walk'. If the same idea could be applied to painting, substitute  'colour' for 'line'. I often stand in front of the blank canvas and wonder what journey I am about to begin. Not always, but I often have no preconceived idea, no drawing-nothing but the spontaneous first random selection of brush and paint, then I start working it onto the canvas and see where it leads me.

There is a whole universe out there, and another one inside-the Landscapes of the mind fascinate me. I seem to drift in and out of these atmospheric images as I paint. There are often no solid objects, because that implies a physical connection. I wander through these layers in my mind as I paint, and each painting takes it's own course. I try to use transparent layers to explain these images, so there are no solid objects and the depth is infinite.

Other paintings have their quiet messages. Paintings are like a diary to me, just as my sketch book is. They record fleeting moments, moods, impressions and lifelong passions, and everyone of them is as important to me as breathing.
